Due to the enormous time pressure he is under as a working man in his early late twenties, James Harris is attempting to express his experience of life in four lines of poetry daily.

Hailing from Nottingham, James Harris is a writer and translator resident in Berlin. He has published work in the May Anthologies, Bordercrossing and The Liberal Magazine. He is the Associate Editor of ‘Comedy Studies’ journal and his novella ‘The Comedy of Maria’ was published by Cerise Press in Summer 2010.

The Four Line Blog is intended as a temporary project. The poet intends to write 365 posts, one for each day of a year. Only exceptional audience interest or a sense of the continued viability of the project will affect this decision. But perhaps in excess 1460 lines of four line poetry are enough for anyone, from one pen at least. The blog will remain online afterwards as memorial to this year.

Until now, six of the poems have been published independently in Paris/Atlantic magazine, Fall 2009 edition.

‘The Four Line Blog’ accepts poems on commission. If you have an idea or theme you would like to see a four line poem composed about, or wish a poem as a dedication, please be in touch and the author will attempt some lines on the subject. As payment he asks that you publicize the blog further.

One day, please write a factional account of things as you saw them, stream of consciousness, tell us a story Mr H!

Enjoying your work. We spoke a month ago at New Word Order regarding the Berlin english comedy scene. In short, would love to see if you’d be up for doing a 5 minute spot at our next stand-up showcase on Feb 4. Do let me know!

Just read your Ausländerlied. I hope that’s not how you feel about living in Deutschland.

Fallen in love with your work very quickly. Finding myself inspired to do something similar. Always thought of myself as a writer, but have hardly ever written. How’s that for clever with words? Good tidings, sir.

Enjoyed reading your poems this AM. I’m adding your blog to my blogroll, James. Perhaps you will continue with another experiment after…

  7. Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on
the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people think
about worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
